  4. The !T1ToFont application converts fonts in Adobe
  5. Type 1 format to the RISC OS font file format,
  6. allowing these fonts to be used by the RISC OS
  7. font manager.

  10. application.

  15. If you have a Type 1 file but no corresponding AFM
  16. file, you can produce a usable font.  Simply leave
  17. the 'AFM file' field blank.  The resulting font
  18. will lack kerning information, so do use the AFM
  19. file if you have it.

  21. Most alphabetic fonts should convert successfully
  22. with the Encoding field set to "Acorn Extended
  23. Latin".  Some symbol fonts have their own private
  24. encoding; for these it is recommended that you
  25. select "As specified in Type 1 file" from the
  26. Encoding menu.  This causes the font's internal
  27. encoding to be used, ensuring that the glyphs are
  28. placed at the correct character codes.  The
  29. encoding is also deposited in a file named
  30. "Encoding" in the font's directory, where the font
  31. manager and printer drivers can make use of it.
